ROCKINGHAM MUSEUM

The Rockingham Museum is housed in an Art Deco building, the former Rockingham Road Board Building built in 1946/47. It was extended in 1988 to join the library building which became part of the museum building in 1999. There are numerous displays throughout the museum depicting a variety of aspects of our history.

They are designed to educate and inform local residents, visitors and children of the history of Rockingham and surrounding areas. There is a local history library on site that not only covers Rockingham but also our state’s history, this can be accessed by members of the public for research purposes. We have a large map collection and local newspapers on microfilm and hard copy. The Rockingham Cemetery Records are available.

“Was greeted by a very passionate and friendly local historian Carol who guided us through the collection of local memorabilia on display denoting the early days of Rockingham and surrounds . Great early photos of Rockingham in its foundation years and was interested to learn the stories of the pioneering families of the district. Great collection of early artefacts. Well worth a few hours viewing the displays in many rooms of the museum. Research facilities available at museum if you have family who lived in district in early years of Rockingham. Books on early Rockingham history on sale.”
